Black Panther: Wakanda Forever still dominates the North American box office by occupying the top ranking in its second week.
Ticket sales for Black Panther 2 in North America in its second weekend reached US$67.3 million or equivalent to Rp1.05 trillion (US$1=Rp15,696). This achievement fell by 63 percent and was considered lower than predictions.
A source from the Hollywood industry told Variety that Black Panther 2 was originally expected to earn over US$70 million in ticket sales.
In total in North America, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has grossed US$288 million or around Rp.4.5 trillion. Meanwhile in the international market, Black Panther 2 has collected US $ 258.3 million.
That way, the global income of the film directed by Ryan Coogler has so far been impressive with US$ 546.3 million or the equivalent of Rp. 8.5 trillion.
Black Panther 2's position in the North American box office ladder is far superior to the two films released recently, namely The Menu and She Said. The Menu, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes, generated ticket sales of up to US$9 million or Rp.141 billion. The film ranked number two in the North American box office.
Meanwhile, She Said only earned US$2.2 million or the equivalent of Rp.34 billion.
This achievement was even less than Black Adam, which still earned US$4.5 million or the equivalent of Rp.70.6 billion, even though it had been released in a few weeks.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the second Black Panther film that continues the story of the nation of Wakanda after T'Challa's death. The film is being written and directed by Ryan Coogler.
This sequel stars Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett. This film will also be Dominique Thorne's debut as Riri Williams aka Ironheart, a young superhero who will become a member of the Young Avengers.
